    That was what I have.

    Again, the sdb does not show up when I run cfdisk

    Im still trying to output the dmesg to a file so i can read it.

    I'll see if i can find anything in var/log/messages next time.

    yes also 'dmesg | more'

    thank you, i was trying it backwards as well as trying to grep into a file. Either way, I was able to find the solution to my initial problem. Thanks to help i found here.

    Now I can log in here, switch to a different terminal. try the command and switch back. That's one of the things I love about slack.
